Complementary Symptom Support During Chemotherapy in Metastatic Prostate Cancer
Patient Profile
A 72-year-old male with aggressive metastatic prostate cancer presented with documented metastases to the bone and lungs. The patient was undergoing systemic treatment with docetaxel chemotherapy and androgen deprivation therapy.
Baseline Symptoms
Prior to chemotherapy initiation, the patient reported:
- significant anxiety related to his diagnosis
- persistent bone pain associated with skeletal metastases.
Treatment-Associated Symptoms
Following initiation of chemotherapy, the patient developed several common treatment-related adverse effects, including:
- peripheral neuropathy
- impaired cognition (“brain fog”)
- severe fatigue
- insomnia.
These symptoms substantially affected the patient’s quality of life and daily functioning.
Complementary Intervention
The patient initiated Lucentra ONCO, an alcohol-free homeopathic liquid formulation designed to support relief of symptoms associated with cancer and the treatment of cancer.
Observed Response
Following two initial doses, the patient reported:
- immediate improvement in perceived energy levels
- reduction in anxiety.
With continued dosing at twice daily administration over the following week, the patient reported:
- improvement in neuropathic symptoms
- improved sleep quality
- continued improvement in energy.
Additional Clinical Course
Bone pain decreased later during the course of treatment. This improvement was likely related to tumor response following six cycles of chemotherapy rather than the complementary intervention.
Clinical Interpretation
This observation describes symptomatic improvement in fatigue, anxiety, neuropathy, and insomnia during chemotherapy while using a complementary homeopathic formulation.
Because the patient was simultaneously receiving conventional oncologic therapy, causal conclusions cannot be established. However, this case highlights the potential role of integrative supportive approaches in managing treatment-related symptoms during cancer care.
